Robert E. CranstonFellowRobert E. Cranston, M.D., M.A., FAAN, is an Attending Physician, and Head of the Division of Neurology at Carle Clinic and Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated cum laude from Greenville College, in Greenville, Illinois with a B.A. in Biology, completed an M.D. from The University of Illinois at Chicago, completed an M.A. in Bioethics, magna cum laude from Trinity International University, and received a Postgraduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine from the University of Wales College of Medicine. He completed a neurology residency at University of Arizona, an epilepsy fellowship at University of Minnesota, a clinical medical ethics fellowship at the University of Chicago, and is a diplomate and fellow of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Cranston is Director of the Muscular Dystrophy Association Clinic in Urbana, IL, is Chair of the Ethics Committee, the Inpatient Ethics Consultation Team at Carle Foundation Hospital, and has an appointment with the hospital as Clinical Ethicist. Cranston also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at University of Illinois College of Medicine, Urbana-Champaign. He served as a 2002-2003 MacLean Center Ethics Fellow at University of Chicago, and is a Fellow of The Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity. He lectures frequently on various neurology and medical ethics topics. Dr. Cranston grew up in the Philippine Islands where his parents were missionaries. In his earlier years he took two evangelistic basketball tours back to the Philippines. He also has a strong interest in Christian higher education and serves on the Board of Trustees of Greenville College. He, his wife, and his three children are members of the Mattis Avenue Free Methodist Church in Champaign, Illinois.
