Hal Wallis

Fellow

Dr. Hal Wallis is a graduate of Texas Tech University, receiving BA degrees in Biology and Chemistry. He then attended the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio. He did his post-graduate work at the Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, VA where he completed his Residency in Ob-Gyn. Dr. Wallis received the William Osler Excellence in Teaching award given by the medical students and faculty for excellence in training both medical students and residents.

He joined South Texas Medical Clinics in 1980 and was Department Chair from 1986- 1990. In 1990 he relocated to Waxahachie, TX where he continues his practice in Gynecology and Infertility.

Dr. Wallis has been active in public policy for many years. He helped develop model legislation in the regulation of abortion clinics culminating in the Women's Health Protection Act of 1995 in Texas. He was the founding director of the Texas Physicians Resource Council and has been instrumental in developing and networking Resource Councils around the nation for the last 8 years. He, along with US Representative Tom Coburn, presented evidence as to the nature of recent declines in teen abortion and pregnancy rates to the U. S. Congress in Feb. of 1999.

Dr. Wallis currently serves as the Chairman of the Physicians Consortium, a public policy group committed to impact public policy through research and the application of evidence based medicine. He also serves as Medical Advisor to several abstinence education programs, including Aim for Success and Worth Waiting For. He is also a medical advisor to the National Physicians Center for Family Resources.

Dr. Wallis has recently returned from a missions trip to Taiwan, on which abstinence curricula was introduced to the governing bodies of Taiwan , including the Surgeon General, The Minister of Education, the Minister of the Interior, and the President of Taiwan.

Dr. Wallis currently resides in Waxahachie, TX, with his wife of 26 years, Carolyn and their three children, Rachel, Aaron, and Holly. They attend the Waxahachie Bible Church and serve the community as members of the Ellis County Women's Crisis Center.
