CBHD Challenges Human Cloning Claim
Chicago, Illinois -
December 27, 2002 - Late Thursday night, Clonaid, the cloning
arm of the cult group the Raelians, claimed that they are the first
to successfully bring a human clone to birth. The announcement was
made by telephone to Agence France-Presse. No proof of the claim has
been offered.
"Regardless of the accuracy of the claim,
the fact that renegade scientists are apparently continuing to work
to clone human beings despite the proven dangers of mammalian
cloning shows that the United States and the rest of the world need
to pass a complete ban on this dangerous and unethical procedure as
soon as possible," said Center Senior Fellow C. Ben Mitchell.
Center experts such as President John F.
Kilner, Ph.D. and Senior Fellows C. Ben Mitchell, Ph.D. and Nigel M.
