Healthcare providers worldwide are struggling with ethical burdens related to clinical distress, resource scarcity and allocation, priority-setting, personal risk, and more as they offer care. Although these ethical quandaries are not novel, they have intensified in the COVID pandemic and will continue as ongoing and future crises impact healthcare. Nursing’s rich ethical heritage offers support and structure to help providers practice with integrity, conscience, and courage in the face of our ongoing call to care in the current environment.
