
Dr. Rebecca McAteer Martin joined Westchester Medical Center in March 2023 as a Palliative Medicine consultant and Clinical Associate Professor at New York Medical College. She holds an appointment in the Department of Medicine, and serves as an Advisory Dean at New York Medical College, as well as faculty advisor of the NYMC Center for Human Rights, the Family Medicine Interest Group, the Christian Medical & Dental Association NYMC chapter, and the Peer-to-Peer Professionalism Committee. Dr. Martin had previously served as a core faculty member and hospitalist at the Northwell-Phelps Family Medicine Residency Program, where she led a HRSA K02grant initiative in Faculty & Program Development from 2017-2022, and served as Chair of the Residency Program Evaluation Committee and Co-Chair of the Hospital Ethics and Continuing Medical Education Committees. Prior to that, she served as a voluntary physician at United Mission Hospital in Tansen, Nepal from 2013-2015. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine, with an Added Qualification in Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Dr. Martin completed her medical education at New York Medical College, residency training at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA, and a fellowship in Faculty Development & Medical Humanities at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Her specialty training in Palliative Medicine was completed in 2022 through an innovative, ACGME-approved, competency-based fellowship model at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. She is an avid traveler, and visited all six inhabited continents during a four-year span from 2015-2019.
