This session will address some of the alternatives that are considered more on the edge of technologically assisted procreation—artificial wombs, "remade" embryos and embryo adoption. I will argue that the discussion of artificial wombs puts Roe v. Wade in a new light, but may not be an option we want to pursue widely. Embryo adoption has come under criticism for making the overproduction of embryos in IVF more palatable. I will argue that embryo adoption is generally a positive alternative that should be encouraged. "Remade" embryos are a complex issue and I will examine the arguments on both sides of the discussion.
