The modern culture’s viewpoint of surrogacy as an act of altruism stems from a disordered understanding of authentic charity. The process of obtaining and implanting a viable embryo violates natural law, and exploits the innate desire of motherhood of the intended mother.Further, as the configurations to obtain and implant an embryo seemingly become limitless, a gray zone begins to form in the identification of true parenthood. Natural law necessitates a child be begotten in the marital embrace, not made in a sterile lab. This paper will explore the objectification of the surrogate, the commodification of the child, and the dilution of motherhood.
